Health insurance – with special emphasis on the Nordic market
4/1996
This article is based on a presentation given by Jørgen Gawinetski at the Nordic Insurance Congress in Copenhagen on 28-30 August 1996. Among the questions raised by Jørgen Gawinetski were the following: The financing of the costs of health care in the Nordic countries is widely different from that seen in the other European countries. Will it be possible for the Nordic countries to retain their present system, in which taxation is the main source of finance for the health care system, or will they have to adjust to the systems used in other European markets? In what ways will this affect the private insurance market?
